Angus Gibbon - Artistic Director

Angus studied violin with Lydia Mordkovich at the Royal Northern College of Music, Emmanuel Hurwitz (English Chamber Orchestra) and Mikhail Kopelman (Borodin Quartet) as postgraduate. He performed with many leading London Orchestras, including the Philharmonia and English Chamber Orchestra.

Angus was principal 2nd Violin for over 20 years with the English String Orchestra working with Yehudi Menuhin for many years. He is also a very experienced chamber musician playing regularly in ensembles including Pro Anima, alongside Michael Bochmann. His piano trio with Peter Adams and Madoka Maxwell perform regularly in the UK and most recently in Shanghai.

Angus began his teaching career at the age of 20 as a violin tutor at RNCM. He has held senior teaching posts including Head of Strings at Hampton School and St Paul’s Girl’s School, London. He lectured in Music Performance at Royal Holloway, University of London and Southampton University. He is a former curriculum advisor and string specialist Diploma Examiner for ABRSM. For the past 15 years Angus has acted as one of the external specialist Violin Examiners at the Royal College of Music, London.
