Madoka Maxwell - Piano
Madoka Maxwell commenced her piano studies at the age of four at the Tokyo College of Music for Children. Her talent for the instrument was quickly recognised and she came to Britain to study with Benjamin Kaplan – Professor of Piano at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama – at the age of eleven. Madoka graduated firstly from the Tokyo College of Music High School and subsequently from the Toho Gakuen School of Music, gaining a degree in piano performance in addition to a teaching degree.
Madoka has competed in many international piano competitions. She was awarded the fourth prize in the Maria Canals Category A International Piano Competition. Her performances include appearances on NHK TV in Japan. Since settling in Peterborough in 2001, Madoka has performed three piano concertos, one of which was sponsored by the Japanese Embassy in London.
In 2004 she performed in a concert for the President of Mauritius in Port Louis that was broadcast on Mauritian radio with Jeremy Sampson (violin). She also performs regularly with Angus Gibbon and Peter Adams including recent concerts in Shanghai.
In addition to her concert performances Madoka has a highly successful piano studio as well as teaching at Oundle School. Her pupils are some of the most successful ABRSM exam candidates in UK frequently her entire class gain high distinction marks and national prizes.
