The ‘cellist Peter Adams has an extremely varied career as both a hugely experienced performer across many genres and a very sought after and highly regarded teacher.

He has held the Principal Cello seat at Oxford Philharmonic for twenty 23 years. He was also the Principal Cello The English String Orchestra for over 20 years. Peter was also a member of the Bochmann Quartet’s ‘cellist and The Rogeri Piano Trio.

Chamber music collaborations have included performances with amongst many others; MaximVengerov, Lang Lang, Nigel Kennedy, Rafael Wallfisch, Joanna MacGregor, Natalie Klein and Robert Cohen.

Peter was appointed in 1984 the youngest Professor at The Royal Academy of Music in London. He also teaches for Oxford University and has been an examiner to The Royal College of Music and Trinity College of Music.

Many of Peter’s past pupils have joined the music profession as highly accomplished performers and teachers carrying on a tradition Peter passes on from his own teachers: Paul Tortelier, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi and Janos Starker
